Image Compression using Discrete Wavelet Transform:
This Project presents an
approach towards MATLAB implemention of the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT)
for image compression. The design follows the JPEG2000 standard and can be used
for both lossy and lossless compression. In order to reduce complexities of the design
linear algebra view of DWT has been
used in this concept.
With the use of more
and more digital still and moving
images, huge amount of disk space is required for storage and manipulation
purpose. For example, a standard 35-mm photograph digitized at 12μm per pixel
requires about 18 Mbytes of storage
and one second of NTSC-quality color video requires 23 Mbytes of storage.
JPEG is the most commonly used image compression
standard in today’s world. But researchers have found that JPEG has many
limitations. In order to overcome all those limitations and to add on new
improved features, ISO and ITU-T has come up with new image compression
standard, which is JPEG2000.

1.WIRELESS OBJECT LOCATOR
This is my mini project
Problem Statement: we often forget our bike and car keys. Can u suggest an electronic device to overcome this problem???
An object locator is a device designed to assist its user in finding misplaced household and personal objects in a home. We probably spend hours every month looking for items around the home, often in a similar situation. In fact, almost every person in the world suffers this problem. But now this is not really a big problem because now there’s an inexpensive gadget to help people quickly find important items by tagging them and using an IR locator to pinpoint their position in seconds. Advantages of such locators include extensibility and low maintenance.

2.LOW COST ENERGY METER
The energy meter is an electrical measuring device, which is used to record Electrical Energy .Consumed over a specified period of time in terms of units.
Every house, small factory, business establishment, shops, offices etc. need at least one energy meter to register power consumption. The supplier of electrical raises the bill on the basis reading shown by this meter. The producer of electricity sale the electricity to the electricity boards and boards has to sale this energy to the consumer. Consumer needs to pay the amount against the bill raised by the supplier. The data generate by the energy meter is the base to raise the bill by power supplier. Because of massive rural and urban electrification programme of Government, there is a good demand for this product. This product is available in single phase and three phases at different current rating as per customer's requirement. Here we are introducing a low cost energy meter using ADE7757.

INTELLIGENT SWITCH:
Whenever power goes off we need to search for match box & candles or at least for charging light. In the darkness it becomes hard to locate the required things, at the same time it is expensive to install inverter. It will be good if light glows automatically when ever power is off. This intelligent switch circuit enables automatic, switching on of an emergency light system during darkness in the event of mains failure.
Coming to the working of the circuit there are two parts in first part the mains power supply is detected.in the second part the day light is sensed. Thus when all the required conditions are met the bulb is made glow.

4.Automatic night lamp with morning alarm
In this busy world, minimizing the human effort and time is the ultimate aim of technology. It may be frustrating when a tired person gets into bed and remembers he had forgotten to switch the bed light off. The project ‘automatic night lamp with morning alarm’ helps avoid this problem by switching on an LED itself when it detects darkness in the room. The LED serves as a bed lamp or a reading lamp provided a reflector. In the morning the LED switches itself off and sounds a melodious alarm to wake the user. The user can manually switch the alarm off.

5.LED DISPLAY
Our aim is to display an alphabet by selection particular row and column in dot matrix. To reduce complexity in connection we used persistence of vision concept, in which each row is continuously scanned with a frequency at which our eye can‟t perceive it and we can feel it as continuous display or stable. So to scan each row of dot matrix we require decoder. Decoder is a combinational device with m x n (i/p x o/p). From „n‟ anyone of input is high based on i/p combination with „m‟ bits. To produce different combinations using m‟bits we used a counter whose output is incremented by applying clock as input. To reduce complexity we used 4017 IC, it is a Johnson counter with 10 decoded outputs. It replaces the blocks of counter and decoder. We can obtain clock in different ways, we used 555IC timer and operated in free running mode to produce the clock at a required frequency. The frequency of output wave is depends upon R, C components used clock generator circuit. We produced clock at a range of 50HZ to produce stable display. Finally by taking DC supply of 5v through 7805IC regulator the 555IC produces clock at a frequency range of 50 HZ, Which is applied to 4017 IC. It changes the output state continuously at applied rate, out of 10, 5 outputs are coupled to each row of dot matrix.

6.HARDWARE PIRACY LOCK SYSTEM with complete code....
The main problem faced by software industry is piracy. We are providing the basic solution for avoiding the piracy by providing an embedded circuit which will be attached tothe serial port of a PC. The software will be having a driver which will be checking the embedded hardware repeatedly. If it doesn’t get the expected response from the lock it willjust halt the software and exits.
We will write a program in the lock which will apply a predefined algorithm on thesent request variable and send the result to the software. The software will apply the reverse algorithm on the result and it should get the original value. The only it will allow the software to run otherwise it will halt the execution. We will provide the driver program libraries to the software vendors so that they can easily incorporate these libraries in their software. This type of implementation avoids not only piracy but also we can prevent usage of the software in more than one system.

AMPLIFIED EAR
The micro phones we are using are not sufficient to hear remote sounds such as bird twittering. We can also listen to our television set at a very low volume, avoiding bothering about relatives and neighbors. We can hear to foreign speakers, cricket commentary etc. with increased clarity and audibility. Even if we have a faultless hearing, we may discover unexpected sounds using this device. This is very useful for forest researches.

RADIO FREQUENCY BASED REMOTE SWITCHING FOR HOME APPLIANCES
Remote control unit which makes use of the radio frequency signals to control various electrical appliances. This remote control unit has 4 channels which can be easily extended to 12. This circuit differs from similar circuits in view of its simplicity and a totally different concept of generating the control signals. Usually remote control circuits make use of infrared light to transmit control signals. Here we make use of DTMF (dual-tone multi frequency) signals (used in telephones to dial the digits) as the control codes. The DTMF tones are used for frequency modulation of the carrier. At the receiver unit, these frequency modulated signals are intercepted to obtain DTMF tones at the speaker terminals. This DTMF signal is connected to a DTMF-to-BCD converter whose BCD output is used to switch-on and switch-off various electrical appliances (4 in this case).
We have designed the circuit by taking the features of the ICs which we have used, means we have used the IC UM 91214B for generating control signals to the circuit, as it can generate DTMF tones.
We used the IC KT 3170 for conversion of DTMF tones to BCD outputs. And the IC CD 4013 for toggling the output from the converter

METAL DETECTOR
This circuit automatically turns on a buzzer when a metal is detected by it. The basic principle on which a metal detector works is when an electric current is passing through a coil it produces magnetic field around it.
The simplest form of a metal detector consists of an oscillator producing an alternating current that passes through a coil producing an alternating magnetic field. When ever a metal is brought nearer to the coil then buzzer turns on Initially buzzer is in the off state until a metal is brought nearer to the coil.
If a piece of electrically conductive metal is close to the coil, eddy currents will be induced in the metal, and this produces an alternating magnetic field of its own. Thus magnetic energy is absorbed and the oscillator fails to work. When the oscillator fails final transistor which is connected to the negative terminal of buzzer and LED conducts and buzzer is activated. Initially only positive voltage is given to both buzzer and LED, when the transistor conducts only negative voltage is supplied to both buzzer and LED and then only both of them works.
This is mainly used for security purposes. a low cost metal detector. This has wide range of applications in airport security, building security, event security, item recovery, geological research.

ACCIDENT IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM USING GPS
SYNOPIS
The objective of this project is to monitor and accident identification using Global Positioning System. The Global Positioning System is a space age navigational system that can pinpoint your position anywhere on the globe, usually within a few yards or meters. This amazing technology is available to everyone, everywhere, day and night, and best of all, at no cost for use of the navigational data. GPS uses a constellation of 24 satellites in precise orbits approximately 11,000 miles above the earth. The satellites transmit data via high frequency radio waves back to Earth and, by locking onto these signals; a GPS receiver can process this data to triangulate its precise location on the globe.
GPS operates 24 hours a day, in all weather conditions, and can be used worldwide for precise navigation on land, on water and even in the air. Some of its many current applications include: boating, fishing, hunting, scouting on land or from the air, hiking, camping, biking, rafting, pack trips by horseback, hot air ballooning, general aviation, snowmobiling and skiing, search and rescue, emergency vehicle tracking, 4 wheeling, highway driving and a host of other outdoor activities where accurate positioning is required.

PYRO ELECTRIC FIRE ALARM
This project is an ultra-sensitive fire sensor that exploits the direct piezoelectric property of an ordinary piezo element to detect fire. The lead zircon ate titanate crystals in the piezo element have the property to deform and generate an electric potential when heated, thus converting the piezo element into a heat sensor. The circuit described here is very sensitive. It gives a warning alarm if the room temperature increases more than 10°C. The entire circuit has two sections—the sensor and the power supply section. The front part of the circuit has a sensitive signal amplifier. It gives a high output when temperature near the piezo element increases. In normal condition, the sensitivesignal amplifier gives a low output and the remaining circuitry is in a standby state.
If heat near the piezo persists, after one minute, and the buzzer starts beeping. If heat continues, after four minutes, the relay will be energized. The solenoid pump connected to the N/O (normally opened) contact of the relay starts spraying the fire-ceasing foam or water to the possible sites of fire.

WIRELESS TV HEADPHONE CIRCUIT
This circuit allows you to watch your favourite TV
programmes late at night without disturbing other family members. As against imported stereo wireless TV headphones, these are cheaply
available. The unit is basicsally a simple FM transmitter T1 acts as an audio
preamplifier. Transistor T2 works as an FM oscillator and modulator in
conjunction with other passive components. Trimmer capacitor VC1 connected
across inductor L1 can be varied to achieve the desired frequency.
Most modern TV’s are equipped with audio-in/out and video-in/out RCA sockets. Using an RCA-to-RCA cord, connect the audio output of the TV to transmitters input. Adjust the gain of the audio preamplifier with the help of preset VR1 for clear reception in a portable FM receiver equipped with ear phone socket. This transmitter draws only a few milliamperes of current and doesn’t require on/off switch. It can be fabricated on a small piece of stripboard.
